bluewave
The temperature trends confirm the patterns that our posters have been commenting on. Since 1981, minimum annual temperatures increased at a slightly faster rate than the maximums. This effect varied by season and location. The rate of overall warming was greatest in the fall. The move of the NYC ASOS in 1996 from the castle had a detrimental impact on the reliability of the temperature readings. This poor sitting, with dense vegetation blocking the temperature sensor from open sunlight, created a summer maximum temperature cooling trend. This is an obvious outlier compared to local and regional temperature trends. https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/cag/regional/time-series Northeast regional temperature trends 1981 to present DJF......max...+0.5F/Decade.....min.....+0.9 MAM....max....+0.4..................min.....+0.3 JJA......max....+0.3..................min.....+0.6 SON....max....+0.8..................min.....+0.8 https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/cag/city/time-series Northeast cities DJF NYC....max....+0.3...................min...+0.5 JFK....max.....+0.4...................min...+0.2 LGA...max.....+0.7...................min...+0.8 ALB...max.....+0.9...................min...+1.0 BDR..max.....+0.7...................min...+0.7 PHL..max.....+0.7...................min....+1.1 MAM NYC..max.....0.0.....................min...+0.2 JFK...max....+0.3...................min......0.0 LGA..max....+0.4...................min.....+0.4 ALB...max....+0.4..................min......+0.4 BDR..max....+0.3...................min....+0.6 PHL..max.....+0.5..................min....+0.9 JJA NYC...max....-0.1..................min...+0.4 JFK....max...+0.6.................min....+0.3 LGA...max...+0.6.................min....+0.8 ALB...max...+0.6.................min....+1.1 BDR...max...+0.5................min....+1.0 PHL...max....+0.5................min...+1.0 SON NYC...max...+0.2................min....+0.7 JFK....max...+0.5................min...+0.4 LGA...max...+0.7................min...+1.0 ALB...max....+1.1...............min....+1.0 BDR..max.....+0.8..............min.....+1.2 PHL..max.....+0.6...............min....+1.
