Even in the winter we can be -20F in the morning and 20F in the afternoon. The real big ones are usually after dry weather in March/April or Sept/Oct...a great radiational cooling night followed by compressional warming during the day from winds moving down the mountain slopes and heating the valley. Average highs are mid-80s at BDL in July so it seems fairly normal for summer. I don't know, I'm just jaded after last week and the hottest 6-day mean in a very long time.
