EastCoast NPZ
DP of 35 here in Denver. 93f high, but with a breeze it is comfortable in the shade. Went to the pool this afternoon and was pleasantly cool when exiting the water. Nothing like home. Amazing.

Herb@MAWS
Temp range today IMBY was 99.4 for the high and 73.8 for the low -- that's a pretty warm morning low even for Columbia. Temp now is just below 91 -- may be time for a Jebwalk.
Mrs.J
Went out at 9:30 tonight to water my front flower beds. They face East and did not want to get up at 5 am to do them.

Eskimo Joe
86/78 at work it actually feels nice in the shade but not in the sun.
smokeybandit
HRRR at least throws a few green patches on radar throughout the area. As long as it's not what the Hollidaysburg, PA, area had last night. Don't need quite that much.
Eskimo Joe
Convective temp is only 96° today so it's possible that we see some showers cool a few spots off.

Eskimo Joe
Pretty robust surface instability...certainly the lack of a kicker and high heights will preclude widespread activity but if something can go up watch out.
Eskimo Joe
Looks like a slight NE flow today, which would keep the DCA temp below 95°. That site is just so poorly place. Need to get another ob inside the District. Why not the White House or a Smithsonian location? I would make so much more sense.

It is already at least 94 on the 5-min obs. The north wind is better than south for heat, a shorter fetch over the water and the city before that. 80 for the low will be the record unless it rains. high risk
NAM3 and HRRR both want to develop a few storms along the I-95 corridor by early afternoon - let's see if they are on to something.

Eskimo Joe
I hope DCA and BWI stay warm overnight and don't drop below 80°. The worst is when a shower pops up at 10pm and douses a site.

coolio
2:24pm heat index is 109 at DCA. We hit 106 yesterday but that was at 5:52pm. Should be going up from here too.
SomeguyfromTakomaPark
One thing I don’t understand about heat index is they say it “feels like 110”. But 110 would feel very different with different humidity, is there a set humidity for all heat index temps?
coolio
Getting a little bit of a downpour in the capitol hill area! Should be interesting how it feels like afterwards.
Stormpc
A nice shower popped right over DC/ National Mall. That may do it for DCA"s MAX

Outside the beltway it'll be sweltering, but everyone will point to DCA in the mid 80s, lol.

Looks like it mostly skipped over the airport itself. Lowest 5 min ob was 91. It does likely lock in 97 as the high for the day.

JakkelWx
A couple stations hitting 100. Probably in the sun. 97/78/114 here, down from 100 a little earlier. Grossest day since probably August 2016.
