The South Shore is currently between the heavier storms to our south and north. It would be nice for the back edge over PA to fill in a bit more before moving east. Lawns here that don't get watered regularly are brown.

front came through too early....had it been 6-9 hrs later we would have done alot better.  Most areas will be lucky to see .25 from this 2nd line.

Picked up .31" from the batch of rain early this morning. Now getting light showers from the last batch of rain of the day. Probably will add only a few hundreths here, but at least this morning's rain was enough to water the garden. As I mentioned a few days ago, the timing of the front was too early to get heavy t-storms this afternoon. Maybe it will blossom in time to hit areas to the east. Eastern LI could get some heavy rain later.

yeah the nam backed off at the last minute. Some places got the initial heavy round but this batch is mostly meh

The rain on Tuesday and Wednesday was the main story this week.  That convection just fired up and was fueled by the very high humidity/strong sun.

You can see the clearing line approaching from the west and the skies are brightening up here.

I remember that stretch well. It was a hellish run. Does anyone know if that 84 degree dew point at JFK still stands as a valid reading?

I believe this is the longest JFK dewpoint at or above 70 streak since August 2016. This one started at 11pm on 6-30 and is getting ready to end later today on 7-6. Still impressive at 135 hrs as of 2pm. The high dewpoints and minimum temperatures have been more impressive than the maxes since the summer of 2013.

We actually had a pretty good little cell head over jones beach with heavy rain and several cloud to ground strikes. Unfortunately that rain missed areas to the north.

Had good rain for about 20 minutes over Long Beach mid afternoon. Was definitely welcome, South Shore summer drought mode has definitely been kicking in and lawns all over town are browning.

Next 8 days averaging just 76degs., or about 1deg. AN.

Month to date is  +7.2.     Should be  +3.6 by the 15th.

64degs.  here at 6AM.

We roast again all the way to well-done,  starting at end of this 8 day period, if rain does not come.
