So it’s official, as of yesterday I own a home in Altmar (will be fully moved in a couple of weeks),  unfortunately for me I have been dealing with some health issues (of course it has to be now), hoping to start trending upwards and contribute a little more often..

Take care guys...

Looks beautiful wolf! Nice spot for some frozen pond hockey. Hope you feel better soon! Might take a road trip up there during one of the big LES events if you allow me and devin. ^_^

Had a good friend that went to a wedding Friday night, wasn't feeling well. Went for a walk with his mom and sister around the pond, than had a brain aneurysm and died on the spot at 26 years old. Enjoy each day with your family and friends.

Very sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how difficult it is to lose someone close so quickly and tragically.

Pretty serious heat wave it looks like next week... GFS predicting 105 heat index next Sunday, h850s up to around 22-24.

Does anyone recall the last time we saw it get that hot? Especially in June

Screenshot_20180624-080742.png

That would be excessive heat warnings around these parts. Looks insanely hot around here end of the upcoming weekend beginning of next week. We’ll see if the models back down or not but that kind of heat would be something we haven’t seen around here in a long time.

The 12z GFS has a high of 97 degrees at KBUF on 7/3 which would be the highest temperature recorded since 7/15/1995 when we also hit 97 degrees. Would be a once in a generation type heat so very excited to see if the models can stay consistent on this.

...Dangerously High Apparent Temperatures Likely This Weekend...

Record heat in the 90s will combine with dew points in the 70s to
produce very uncomfortable...and potentially dangerous...apparent
temperatures through at LEAST this weekend...as an anomalously
strong sub tropical ridge will dominate the Lower Great Lakes and
Mid Atlantic region. The heart of this impressive ridge will be over
the Ohio Valley as we open this period Friday night...then as we
advance through the holiday weekend...it will drift to the east
across Pennsylvania. Putting the strength of the ridge into
perspective...the +2 to 3 STD feature has a late June return
interval of 5 to 10 years with its corresponding heat (H7/85
temps) having a climatological recurrence of 10-20 years.

I can tell you for sure this is the first time I can ever remember an entire week of temperatures forecasted at 90+. I can remember a couple 3 day heat waves of 90+ but never anything close to 7+. Unfortunately I think we could be looking at some serious illnesses for anyone who does not have air conditioning especially the elderly with how long this heat wave is going to last. Also could be power issues if everyone is using their a/c around the clock for a week straight so it’s definitley going to be interesting to see how we come out of what will likely (and hopefully) be the hottest part of this summer, and the longest heatwave I can ever remember.

I'm certainly glad I moved to VA for warmer weather. It's going to be warmer for you guys then it will be down here.

I lived in Nashville, where the average high for months during the summer is close to what’s forecast for Buffalo next week. If a 10-20 year extreme here is only slightly worse then an average summer day in the southeast, I’ll take this every time.

The winds are out of the SW for today and tomorrow. I'm not sure we see high 90s any of the days close to the lakeshore. Going to be a close call at the airport but think the highest temp will be 96/97.

I don't think KBUF makes it past 92 tomorrow. I'll go 92 for BUF, 98 for IAG, 99 for ROC, and 98 for SYR. Highest heat index tomorrow I'll guess 101 for BUF, 109 for IAG, 110 for ROC, and 107 SYR.
