Summer was good here. Could have used a bit more rain,  but weather was nice for summer activities.

Funny how that moisture axis has been pretty darn stable for a month now.  PA through SNE into SVT/SNH.

Mount Mansfield is now ~7.5" of precipitation below normal since July 1st.  July saw exactly 2.00" on an average of nearly 8".  August has had a few more days of rain but light amounts and running 1.5" deficit through the first 2 weeks.

This is what this summer will be remembered for, lol.

That's nuts!  And that axis of moisture has been really impressive.

Up here in the under 2" of rain zone, the interesting part to me is that the northern mountains seem to be the epicenter of the dryness.  They are normally pretty drought proof with orographic lift, especially in a humid pattern you get some orographic storm that can park and drop more rain than we've seen in the past month in about 2 hours.

We've had some really wet summers though in the past 5 years.  The wettest was probably 2013 when like two feet of rain fell on Mansfield in June/July.

Yeah, it's an interesting split on that map.  I always think of your area as showery in the summer based on a lot of hiking up there in the mid and late 90's.

Some of those PA totals are crazy!

CDD tells where the real heat has been concentrated.  Urban corridors of EMA and CT river valley.

After that awful week and a half or so in July, I’ve only had to use the AC to combat humidity for most part. Not that it’s been cool, just not as aggressively hot as that heat wave.

Glad we don't live there.  Looks like we'll have some warmth here after several consecutive days with highs in the 60's.

Meanwhile, awoke several times during the night to the sound of rain.  Looks like we'll get a couple days break from that once we get through the next 24 hours.

Lastly, noticed the first blush of leaf change while out walking yesterday.  A lot of greens suddenly muted.
