Holy freakin hell in the sun. That little bit of rain evaporated off like a sauna.

That's the worst... if it rains in these patterns you want like an inch, to evap cool.  The worst is like 0.01-0.05" to wet the ground but not enough to cool the air...the dew rises like 5-7F immediately after.

sunny, 95.2/76.4, lots of rumbling..

You could tell by the look of it that it was struggling to maintain an updraft, but at any rate we were able to score a heavy downpour out of it.  Should be fun when the sun comes back out here shortly.

THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...

The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a Beach Hazards
Statement, which is in effect from Wednesday morning through
Wednesday afternoon.

* Location...Casco Bay to the mid coast and Penobscot Bay.

* Beach Hazard...The warm air temperatures in the mid to upper 80s
may cause people to underestimate the dangers of the cold water
temperatures which are currently only in the upper 50s.

* Timing...800 AM Wednesday through 600 PM Wednesday.

* Winds...light and variable...becoming onshore 5 to 10 mph.

* Impacts...The cold water temperatures can quickly cause
hypothermia to anyone immersed in the water. Anyone on boats
or paddlecraft should use extreme caution to avoid this threat.

Just had a 20 minute downpour here in York Beach...some thunder, but mostly just heavy rain.

Back up to 84/78. Holy humid.

Btw, the water at the beach here is the warmest I've ever felt it. Had to be in the low 70s today. Just walk right in....which is convenient when you've been emptying red Solo cups into your face all day

Looks like some solid towers going up in Ct. I can even hear occasional low rumbles across the water. Would think they have plenty of juice to work with today.

Some of the lightning flash rates that I've been seeing (with the storm just W of the CT border and the one in the Hartford area) were pretty intense (almost 200 per minute in total), although they've backed down by a few notches recently. But someone has been getting a pretty good light show...
