My dad mentioned that Toledo hit 98 degrees on May 28th. This breaks a record for the highest temperature in May of all time at Toledo.

It happened at around this time (18z - 19z)

As you can see, 94+ was common among the Mesonet stations.

I said locally.   It was filled with rainy weekends.  lake breeze nearly every day - even the hot days we had relief from the ice cube waters to start the month. Never ran the AC once.  Good thing you don't live in  Port Washington

Constant lake breeze and the day's in the 40's stand out in my memory over the heat.  May has always been my favorite month to torch.

Hoodie day today with windchill in the 40's

The most maddening thing is we finally warmed up and it didn't do jack for severe weather activity.

Looks like a ring of fire pattern coming up.  Where it occurs and whether it's good, well, we'll see.

Lol, a record warm month is "garbage" to you. You have some ridiculous standards that's for sure.

I get where he's coming from, the timing of the nice weather wasn't great.  It was a beautiful May imo for Madison (sans the four straight warm capped off days in the 90s they just had).  Half their days were in the 70s or just under (they had a 69F day).  They also had 12 days with thunderstorm action.  That's best climo in my book!  May in Milwaukee on the other hand will almost always have its down moments, which decrease as you get into June (the best month when it comes to combining nice weather and tstorm chances).

I think Cheeseland Skies has a good chance to cash in.  I wouldn't be complaining too much about tstorm activity when the frequency was pretty good in May, just a matter of time I think before the intensity ratchets up.
