As usual, the models were too aggressive with scouring out the low level cold. NAM did the best job though, as is typical.

YYZ jumped to -0.2c at 9pm. We should hopefully get just enough above freezing in the next hour or so to prevent this from being devastating. At least along/south of the 401; northern GTA may be another story.

Man, I really hope that warmup reaches midtown. At -0.4 right now and it's absolutely pouring.

Quite the ice storm here this morning, but we have warmed well above freezing to around 40゚ so it's just plain rain now. The ice had melted by early afternoon; some places do have some flooding issues

How much ice accumulation was there in YBY?

What an awful storm. Friend of mine towards Maple is out of power right now.

Temperatures holding steady just below freezing across the GTA. Everything is just glazed up outside and the freezing rain continues. Hopefully we can get some more warmth to poke in as the night continues on otherwise it's going to be awful tomorrow morning.

Edit: YYZ finally at 32.0F.

With 23.2" snow from the 4/13-15/2018 snowstorm, April 2018 is, by far, the snowiest April on record at Green Bay. The 10 highest monthly snowfall amounts for April are:

1. 35.7", 2018
2. 15.1", 1907
3. 12.7", 1910
4. 12.5", 1923
5. 12.2", 1929
6. 11.8", 1977
7. 11.0", 1928
8. 10.9", 1904 and 2011
10. 10.0", 1996

well this was somewhat unexpected. Police have shut down some roads in south Mississauga, especially right along the lake. Large trees have fallen and taken out power lines. Still sitting right at 32F at 9pm. Rain is just creeping along the lakeshore but I feel like the middle-northern GTA might be looking at a massive ice storm. Decent amount of Ice on the trees

what are they saying on the roads across the GTA on 680 news, 900 in Hamilton, and 610 in Niagara? cause it sounds real bad in Streetsville right now from what you're saying, as well as probably the whole QEW from the Peace Bridge to the Gardiner

Finally switched over to -FZRA/FZDZ. Sleet storm total at YYZ will be over 3".

Congrats! :D Now you know what Hoosier and I went through in GHD I. Though your total is shy of what we got. An awful experience either way, lol.

I'm never shoveling sleet again if I can help it.  Just too much of a pain.  The thing you have to be aware of though when it gets to greater depths is that it can literally lock your vehicle in place and make it difficult to get out.  And it's more resistant to melting than snow.

It's the worst. And when it's drifting sleet, you know you're really fooked.

As for this storm here, cold miserable rain this morning...then some drizzle...and now it's snowing. Wicked "spring" weather. Can't wait to brave the elements tomorrow at work. <_<

One of my thermometers now reads 0.1, the other -1.4. Freezing rain still falling.

Is it my imagination, or is the back-end of the precip already approaching London? I thought we were forecast to have heavy rain until 6 am? The heaviest precip seems to be stateside, as per radar.

The band is going to pivot. The +RA over PA is going to be flung back up into southern Ontario.

Just went out to the store up here...barely made it back. Weren't able to get all the way back so we had to park elsewhere and walk. Definitely over a foot out there...coming down hard.

Heavy snow with a south-southeast flow? That has to be different for up there. What are the old-timers saying about it?

It’s been a wild weather ride the last few days in the Toronto area. TTC streetcar operations are being affected as ice on the overhead wires is causing slow operations and even some service adjustments.

And the ride gets even more interesting tomorrow if the 00z NAM is correct. It shows Toronto getting around 6” of wet snow. The 18z GFS has a couple of inches by Tuesday morning.

Precip's pretty much done here. I got 4-5" of snow although it felt like more because of the underlying sleet. I am totally amazed though at some of the totals up by Green Bay and Shawano. I am pretty certain this storm is the largest non-snowbelt storm in the state for at least the last 2 or 3 years. Honestly this storm is just amazing especially considering the timing.

Well..a kinda surprise snowy mess here in DVN early this morning. Probably picked up near an 1" of powdery snow overnight, which has frozen into ice, leading to numerous accidents and road closures around town. Plow crews finally called into action around 7am this morning, but obviously the morning commute damage has been done.

A really heavy band moved through between 4am-5am producing near white-out conditions and half-dollar sized flakes.

All of a sudden, Wednesday is looking mighty interesting around here. Especially on the NAM.

Spring-Who?

Probably one of the worst commute's I've ever had going into work today in downtown. Took me 2.5 hours.

The sleet solidified into hard cement thanks to the freezing rain and the heavy rain just made side roads 10x worse. I truly hope this is the last of winter as I am tired of this crap now. Since March 1st, YYZ has only hit 50F+ twice which is well below normal and the next 5-7 days are no miracle either.

Thanks to the ice pellets, YYZ will now finish with ~43.0" on the season which is near the average of 45.0" and far better than the last two winters.
