It's why I've often thought that the late night into morning hours are the best time for spring snowstorms. It's not that the snow doesn't stick during the daytime, as long as you have heavy snow falling at daybreak it will continue to stick during the day at similar rates, you just need to have a decent snowcover already in place so the higher albedo counteracts the higher sun angle. Plus morning heavy snowfall is very photogenic I enjoyed this storm more than the late March mostly night time one.

And I hate when we go from one extreme to the other, spring seems like it’s going extinct, I’m sure April will be BN to N, and then we’ll be trapped on the wrong side of an omega block pattern for most of May before summer hits us like a ton of bricks. 3 inches here, get it out of here. Well February was really mild so this is really just making up for that. You probably got at least 4 inches. I like going from winter to hot and dry because that puts the plants to sleep and the pollen season gets muted. I like heat coming in May. Severe wx season is useless around here, I dont even care if it doesn't rain more than one inch in any month between June and August. I love how the snow ended the pollen season for now because I really couldn't breathe the last few days even with allergy medication. Plus snow is a lot prettier than the muddy alternative. How many inches do they owe us through the years, and why do they under measure 90% of the time and hardly ever over measure? Mind boggling. It's very hard to tell, I started taking pictures around 9 am and although very light snow fell for about another hour it did not exceed the rate of melting around here, likely all accumulation stopped right around 9 AM or 9:30 at the latest. Temp up to 33 with just a little light graupel still falling. I measured on a board today. Just for giggles I tried carefully measuring in the grass. That came out around 7" even though I was being careful not to push the ruler too far. For you guys who don't use a board (or "eyeball"). Season total is 65" I concur with your measurements, and looking back at pictures I took of 4/03, the amount of snow was very similar, it just fell in a shorter time lol

April 6 1982 9.6 inches, more like a foot in the Bronx, & April 7th 2003 4.0 inches closer to 5-6 in Bronx and now today 4.8 inches so far at KNYC . In 1996 the April 9th home opener they played in Mid 30's and various snow intensity throughout the entire game. They still replay that game on YES, it's pretty funny to watch. At some points in the game the snow begins to stick to the outfield grass. the 1996 storm was 4-5 inches at JFK and the 2003 storm was 6-8 around here.
