I only received about a half an inch last night, but 3 miles to my NW there is almost 4 inches.

2.5" yesterday for mby in Marshall. Bulk of it hitting with 2 pound-town cells 2 hrs apart in the evening. Calm winds and 1/8 mi vis. Pretty certain I've never seen that before. Was raining Cotton Balls as I came home about 6:30

I updated my Detroit records list for this season. Detroit is currently at 17th snowiest winter since 1880 with 60.0". This is far off the all-time snowiest 94.9" set in 2013-14, but its incredible to note that of the top 17 snowiest winters, 7 have occurred in the last 16 years with the other 10 spanned out over the previous 122 years of record! It was shocking to see that Flint is at 2nd snowiest with 83.5", just 0.4" away from their 2013-14 record of 83.9". I should note that a few snows were isolated jackpots over Flint, obviously this winter doesnt compare to 2013-14 in severity. Their records only date 97 years back.

I mean if it's going to stay cold, might as well push for a top 5 record cold April at YYZ. Over the next 7 days only one day is forecasted to be at or above 50F. Thats only the second 50F temperature since late February and would be the first this month. The average high at YYZ for this time of the year is 50F. In most normal winters, well practically any "normal" winter, cold of this magnitude would bring some type of snow (>2.0") but this year is some unearthly exception.

And here we go...the 12z Euro hammers N MN, N WI, and the UP over the next 10 days.  1-1.5" of frozen QPF...with a few spots even higher.  Crazy.

The streak continues for INL and DLH...which are both at 165 consecutive days with at least a Trace of snow cover.  Current depths are 11" and 8", respectively.  If they can maintain this for 18 more days, it will be a full 6 months.  That looks unlikely, even if the below-normal temp regime continues...simply because even a modest mild spell and/or a few sunny days can wipe out the snowpack quickly this time of year.

Those T amounts for INL and DLH are bit silly in my opinion.  Sure there were a few snow piles that survived from the late October and November snowfalls, but besides those and a few sheltered north facing patches of grass it all melted with warmth and rain Thanksgiving weekend and the following week.

Rather remarkable cold for the first 10 days of this April, historically speaking.

April 1-10, 2018 is now the 2nd coldest (tied) first ten days of April on record for Chicago.

1) 30.4˚ in 1881

2) 32.5˚ in 1975 and 2018

4) 32.9˚ in 1936

5) 33.5˚ in 1874

A few other cities rankings for the first 10 days of April:

Des Moines: 2nd coldest at 32.2˚

Dubuque: coldest on record at 27.0˚ (previous #1 was 29.5˚ in 1975)

Duluth: 2nd coldest at 20.9˚

Fort Wayne: 5th coldest at 35.4˚

Green Bay: coldest on record at 26.4˚ (previous #1 was 28.7˚ in 1923)

Indianapolis: 5th coldest at 38.0˚

La Crosse: coldest on record at 28.9˚ (previous #1 was 30.6˚ in 1936)

Madison: coldest on record at 27.8˚ (previous #1 was 28.5˚ in 1881)

Milwaukee: 6th coldest at 31.4˚

Minneapolis: coldest on record at 25.1˚ (previous #1 was 27.1˚ in 1920)

Peoria: coldest on record at 32.8˚ (previous #1 was 35.2˚ in 1926 and 1982)

Rockford: coldest on record at 30.1˚ (previous #1 was 31.4˚ in 1975)

St. Louis: 3rd coldest at 39.8˚

South Bend: coldest on record at 30.3˚ (previous #1 was 32.3˚ in 1936)

Could be. Here are the guidelines for snow depth, which could explain it: if snow is on the ground but more than half the ground is bare, report “T”.

WOW crazy list. At Detroit its "only" the 11th coldest on record at 35.0F.

if it is JUST piles, that would be snow depth 0, however if there are scattered patches of snow it still counts as a T, even if most of the ground is bare.
