Western Suffolk, trace on the grass, constantly switching between sleet, rain, amd snow.  The changeover to all snow should happen shortly I would hope.

Where in western suffolk? We have 3-3.5" on the north shore. are you on a boat in the great south bay?

Just now, ThatHurricane said:

NYC has only had 0.6 inch QPF though so around 5 inches makes sense, which is what I see in Manhattan. It could be more though

wunderground snow depth for NYC is recorded as 5.6 inches for today  (expecting another 6 inches tonight --- maybe come very close to breaking the record for march)

Again I think people have this “pavement” accumulation bias or obsession.  The weather service even noted to expect lower totals on paved and treated surfaces.  And indicated the bulk of the storm to be afternoon into the late evening.

Thus far things are playing out as expected.  It has underperformed in some spots but that’s the case with every storm in some area.
