Poimen
March sun angle is doing its thing now as I'm noticing some melting out on the road despite the same rates as earlier. Still, pretty impressive snow for March 12th, given the relative warmth beforehand.

Yeah. Well over performing and early transition. This is sneaking up on people. HKY said recently on here that he’s not be shocked to see over 2 here. Idk. Anything at this point is possible. kvegas-wx
This is looking more like a quit hitter 1-2" for many but as Poimen just said, the melting is quick once the rates subside. Wouldn't get your hopes up for much more than that right now.

greendave
confirmed, i'm a mile ESE of Elon and when it switched it was abrupt, pouring snow now.
SnowDeac
Brad P specifically pointed out in his updated VLOG that the back edge is not almost through, but is still back in TN. Don't expect it to help CLT, but I think the mountains/Triad will see several more hours of snow even after the main band has moved through. Developing coastal should help this too. downeastnc
MHX was pretty bullish for us east of RDU....timing wise is good for us with most of the snow happening at or after dark with temps actually getting at or below freezing and staying there. Wouldnt be surprised to see 2-4" in places that get the heaviest rates.
Poimen
I can report some relatively large flakes at this time, perhaps some "silver dollars" in there, too.

Brick Tamland
Sounds like when it does switch to snow it happens fast and comes down hard.

Poimen
Radar indicates a strong band coming through Forsyth county at this time and rates are certainly on the increase here. I don't see much behind this band, unless it back builds.

SENC
Near term /through tonight/... as of 1045 am Monday...leaving the forecast as-is for now despite some possible changes that may be needed later today (guidance comes in an hour later now that it's dst). Namely, upper low moving across Georgia looks a little bit further south than progged and also has a southerly component to its movement not really forecast by guidance. This may translate to wintry and possibly accumulating snow further south than thought.
Brick Tamland
Wow, big increase for Wake on the latest HRRR.
PackGrad05
I think Wake will take a long time to transition.. That will dramatically cut total. I think models HRRR and others are transitioning to frozen much too quick.
Buddy1987
Just measured close to 4'' here. Poimen is right though. Been no lighter than moderate snow here the last couple hours and the roads are back to slushy, although a little covered on the secondaries. I consider this a big win for March standards. SnowDeac
No way this storm is close to 10/1. Even half that would be impressive, though. Also, you can tell that the ULL isn't done and precip is making it over the mountains. The band approaching Hickory currently is coming from the NW, while the bulk of the main band is coming from the SSW.
wxdawg10
models may be picking up on the coastal low being a bit stronger than forecasted and creating more lift..this thing could pivot and sit over the Piedmont as it moves east, gonna be fun to watch this thing unfold..
