the first band which lasted 15 mins or so is the kind of snow I dream about, awesome snow growth and it was ripping quickly starting to accumulate on all surfaces and then poof back to baking soda smoke and mirrors light stuff

that ten minute burst of snow and associated growth is very rare here

i hope that death band makes it up here and crushes bc without it for several hours this will be a very pedestrian event....fingers crossed

I'd guess 10" is the upside for us here in the basement. Hopefully we make it but gut feeling is we fall short.

20z HRRR in BOS 4pm surface temps and r/s line pretty close to reality

Has r/s line traversing area by 6pm

850T plenty cold all along, just lower ~300-500 meters that are currently too warm that will be overcome once we get the rates and a few degrees cooling, hopefully in the next 2-3 hours...

Seeing news reports of a house and a person being struck by lightning during TSSN in the Philly forum.  It's the first I've ever heard of this.  I always assumed thundersnow was a cloud-to-cloud phenomenon.  Anybody heard of cloud-to-ground TSSN strikes before?

The lightning struck in early February...we Flufffyans are still feelin it

Somerville , After pingers for five minutes it went to straight rain.  Now it's throwing hail type chunks with the drizzle.    Toe the line.

Best descriptor I've heard: "chunky rain."

Looks like -RA in Cambridge, but maybe you're up on a hill :)
