Well with Miller B storms, the transfer typically wants to end up riding along the Gulf Stream due to the baroclinic zone favorability. This is typically too far east for most here. Also, most Miller B's transfer too late and too far north (January 2015) so they typically only impact NYC on north. This storm was a bit closer to the coast, but the circulation was much tighter and the 250mb Jet didn't expand to the west as much as you may see in other storms so the precip shield was much more compact. Have we seen more Miller B's in recent memory? Perhaps, but it's nothing unusual. If anything the warmer waters off the coast have simply provided more fuel for the Miller B's to intensify.

Thanks.  Makes sense.  It just seems like models may be having difficulty catching up with these intense Miller B’s and that they tend to hit coastal areas harder.  We joke about Monmouth County, NJ being the new jackpot zone but I honestly wonder if that isn’t a genuine climate trend.

Cut off fast approaching.  All in all I was worried about mixing yesterday, and even with this taking it's time, I'd say it over performed here.

Down to light snow.  Temp stayed steady at 33 from height of storm here.  Thanks all great job as usual!  Careful shoveling.

Unofficial accum: 7" maybe 8.

Trees and bushes beginning to sag big time. We may have issues later if the snow ratios don't improve. This is pure concrete. Probably 7 or 8:1 snow.

I had to save a couple of my bushes that were already getting crushed.  I'd bet this was below 8:1

I've been hearing bamboo breaking down in the bamboo forest since last night, and especially today. Major cleanup, last time there was this much breakage was in the ice storm back in Feb. 2014

Worcester,PA  6" - heavy snow. 33 degrees.  Seems like the bands that are coming from the east struggle to get past central Montco and at the same time the western edge is creeping east. Trees are getting pretty loaded. Will be interesting to see how long the bands can come and bring the snow from the east while the western edges  and the cut off  arrives. Some power outages at this time, but will not take much for limbs and wires to start coming down.

Huh I had Partly sunny skies last Friday. not a flake of snow fell here

Yeah I only had a measly coating that melted in an hour. Hopefully Berks can cash in on the potential storm Monday.

This is the most thunder and lightning I've ever witnessed in a winter storm. Looks like we passed 3" out there. I definitely think we see at least 6" with 2-3 hours left of this heavy snow.

Man I think we are good for 8-12” total. We will see 2” an hour rates for a while.
