Syrmax
Just now, BGM Blizzard said: Idk. It's def alot higher than 12:1. Has to atleast be somewhere in the 20s. Not sure if the measurement was by NWS office or as part of the Asos observation. They need to do a core sample. I'm officially calling bullsh!t on anything near 40:1. CNY-WXFREAK
The end is in sight I think as theres a ton of dry air entering WNY and pushing Eastward. I figure a few more hrs tops then the Tug will get most of the action say after 3AM or so.
CNY-WXFREAK
40-1 I think is virtually impossible to meet, but I could be wrong.
wolfie09
Saw cocorahs report in SNE of 30-33/1 on the backside of the system..
CNY-WXFREAK
I don't know about anywhere else but its still snowing heavily here with stupid high drifts everywhere! Been snowing like this since that wind shift this afternoon and it hasn't let up since.
CNY-WXFREAK
Even during the coldest period of the season in December we couldn't meet 30-1 as we came close once or twice but never eclipsed 30 so IDK. We definitely hit the upper 20's a couple times.
Syrmax
Just did a core. 9.5" and 0.35" L.E. thats 27:1. I dunno, they're not as far off as I thought. I still call Bullsh!t on 40:1. I trust my rigor over ASOS junk, if that's what they use. Or maybe Millenials were measuring. They're generally off.

BGM Blizzard
Messaged my friend at BGM that wrote the afd update. Nws did the core sample to calculate that ratio. Possibility of wind blowing some extra over the can but it has a wind shield on it so wind likely didn't do much to disturb it. So pretty legit. WxNoob
Storm came to a quick end here about 60 minutes ago. Extremely light and fluffy snow as BGM mentioned. Impossible to measure tbh. 3 foot drifts in back yard 2 in front. Just about all of that coming in the last 24 hours. Definitely a memorable one! I've never seen nor heard of near 40:1 in this sort of synopticlly enhanced setup. Usually it occurs in pure LES with light winds and ideal dendrite production in an arctic airmass. Buffalo Bumble
Congrats out there guys. The radar from northern NY all the way down to Bing was fun to watch all day. I imagine much more fun being underneath it. Just a few inches here the last couple days. I’m still very impressed though by how this snow pack near BUF has held tough since our big storm going on 2 weeks back now.
CNY_WX
Still dumping snow here. Got to be up to 6 inches this evening, 9 for the day.

MAIDEsNow
Will lurk this sub-forum more in upcoming years, got a property with Cabin on the Erie PA / Chautauqua county NY line at 1765' elevation. Forecast for this spot is much more in line with that put out by BUF for Chautauqua Ridge area. Put up sale pending sign yesterday. Our forever home will be built here in a few years. Is 1.5 miles west of Peak N Peek & 1 mile north of the Wilderness Lodge resort. Incredible snow depth out there yesterday afternoon 14 days into March, considering snow was pretty much completely melted off at the end of February. Sale Pending About 300' off road, in front of cabin, upper thigh Side of cabin, four foot drifts Back covered porch, 2 feet on it or so Buried picnic table

Look forward to having another member. I believe Blackrock is moving into the snowbelt soon as well. I'm coming to visit when I get my snow itch. Are you technically in Catt county or in PA? A friend of mine has a cottage near Findley Lake. When we go skiing we crash there.

MAIDEsNow
Was a factor for sure. Pondered a home purchase just north of Sherman about a year ago, but the commute and substantial extra bite out of each paycheck quashed that.

rochesterdave
At first glance, it looks like a solid set up. Miller B. Good for 8”+ across the board. Lots can change. Biggest concern is suppression. Also, these can feed a slug of warmth up with the precip. Might prove a bit problematic this late in the season? Solid WAA snow and then deform band/lake enhancement snows. Still think it leads to highest snowfall totals for synoptic compared to Miller A. Especially for Rochester.
