The typical street flooding in the world famous Long Beach West End this morning at high tide.

Park Ave in the West End was terrible this morning, and the Canals. Tonight's high tide will likely cause more flooding but hopefully not as bad as this morning.

Tonight and tomorrow morning are forecasted to be worse.

News 12 is saying it'll be as bad as Irene.

JFK gusted to 63 mph

I'm wondering if this can get as bad as Dec 1992 was (no one seems to be mentioning that one, but it was our worst), but just of shorter duration than that.  We need to get winds to gust into the 70s- and there's still time for that to happen.  March 2010 is another one this can be compared to.

In Irene the ocean and bay met in the middle of town and there was sea foam at City Hall. Water came down my street but luckily not over the curb to my front door. I can't see it becoming that bad but it seems like the flooding is worse than expected so far.

There was 5' of water in the streets a few blocks west of the Nautical Mile during Irene.

The heavy rain / mix has tapered down to a light mix of sleet and snow.  If you'd have asked me yesterday, I would have thought it more likely that heavy wet snow would taper down to light rain/drizzle as opposed to this scenario.

The temp has dropped a couple of degrees to 36 which is the low so far today.  We did have a noticeable coating of mostly sleet earlier but almost all of it has melted.

Thats exactly what I was saying earlier.   Only ehen the precip lightened up it changed over from rain to snow.

And they are calling for little to no accumulation in most places outside of the hills.

I'm up to 3" here, and they finally put me under a WWA, after calling for less than a half inch this morning here. Just saying the NWS forecast wasn't spot on in all places.

I still like 2-4" in NYC like I've been saying, and I think that's reasonable.

...BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph will
cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant drifting
of the snow is likely. Additional snow accumulations of 10 to 14
inches are expected, especially at higher elevations.

  Otsego, Delaware and Sullivan Counties.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel will be very dangerous to
impossible. Tree damage and scattered power outages expected
especially at higher elevations from weight of snow and gusty
winds. Winds gusting as high as 40 to 50 mph will cause areas of
  blowing and drifting snow.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds

Meanwhile, there is still some rain in parts of the HV as far north as Saugerties.  Gotta be some kind of downsloping thing going on there.  Winds seem to be mostly N, but maybe some kind of weird deflection off the Cats and Taconics.  There has to be an interesting case study to be made of that.

Temple jumps 3° in last hour to 35 mix rain/snow.

I think the city gets nothing out of this.

Im 7 miles north of bronx, it has been snowing for hours and we have a slushy 2 inches that is melting as intensity wanes and rain mixes in.

Something really has the change for the city to measure anything imo
