IWXwx
It's hard to believe it is March 1st and no one has started a discussion thread for this transition month. There are lots of 'Bring on Spring' calls on the board, but even here in the subtropics of FWA land, I still watch for the rouge cement dump until astronomical spring. In the meantime, just waiting to see my first robin.
TugHillMatt
The CFS is looking quite wintry for the month of March. Starts off cold, a couple day break in the middle of the month, and then COLD for the second half of the month into April.

We'll see... An average of 3 days up until yesterday? Dude I would not look at the individual runs of the CFS for any sort of merit. It is like a very coarse version of the GFS that goes out two times longer.

No, I meant it was warmer for the long range several days ago. But, yes, I know. I guess I am looking with weenie glasses hoping for SOME sign of winter again before we enter my least favorite season.

Ahh, well you have to factor in the beginning of the month is going to be below normal by a good margin so to get to those above average departures, the rest of the month is really going to be warm. cyclone77
You'd have no idea that we were once facing the possibility of a warning criteria snow event a few days ago for today. Turned out to be a nice day with lots of sun and temp near 50 degrees. Some nice convective looking cu popped up in the afternoon as well.

Some nice convective looking cu popped up in the afternoon as well. The cu could have fooled me if I didn’t know what the date is - looked downright June like on the commute home - with all of 48 on the car thermometer. michsnowfreak
The snow is frozen solid this morning with temps in the mid-20s. I can walk in my backyard without denting through. Naturally it will soften up as the day goes on, but it owes to the high water content.
mississaugasnow
Looking forward to the flip to much warmer weather around mid march. Up here a few encouraging signs for warmth is that the great lakes are quickly becoming ice free and no snow on the ground. Yesterday on the satellite you could watch the 1-2" across the southern GTA just get destroyed by the early march sun.
mississaugasnow
Though until mid march, I wouldn't mind if we can squeeze in another sloppy wet snowstorm. But im not holding my breath for it. Looking at Tuesday into Wednesday for some wet snow currently.
michsnowfreak
Yesterday was one of those rare 0.0 skycover days at DTW.
michsnowfreak
Its crazy the water content in the snow piles. While waiting at a restaurant, I decided to see if I could walk on the snow. Needless to say I didnt budge any. And the huge mall piles...it will be interesting to see when they melt in full. Its hard as a rock now.

Gotta say, that swath right over our backyard is an odd one. It’s not that often you see THAT much bare ground around the lakes in early March. Our luck is on display. IWXwx
I still haven't seen the first robin here. That usually happens ~March 1st here. Beginning to get a little concerned that they know something that I don't.
Geoboy645
That's odd. I have at least heard 2 or 3 of them since last weeks warm spell. Also have heard some sandhills and redwings both which dont generally come around till the middle of the month.

hawkeye_wx
The temperature is going nowhere today, still stuck in the mid 20s, despite bright sunshine.
cyclone77
Not much weather to talk about the next week or so. The warm up late next week/weekend looks pretty nice. Looks like some 60s and if all goes well maybe 70 degree potential.
weatherbo
Clouds/flurries cleared and the temp has really plummeted, down to 8 already. Forecasted low was 14.
IWXwx
Had flurries/snow showers all day long. No accumulations, but it sure made look (and feel) like mid-winter.
