mattie g
I'm convinced that George BM sits up at night on the last day of the month, just waiting for the clock to strike midnight so he can hit "Submit Reply" on his monthly pre-prepared posts. Jebman
NWS should change its rain forecast today to 20 percent chance of a passing sprinkle this morning, 40 percent chance of a passing shower this afternoon, 40 percent chance of a passing sprinkle tonight. Becoming breezy after midnight, a few gusts to 25 mph. Damn I'm good. I should of been a weather forecaster.
Jebman
Maryland has steady rainfall. South Virginia has had steady rainfall for HOURS. In every storm, Dale City always comes in DEAD LAST with precip. Does not matter whether it is snow, sleet, rain or hail. Dale City always comes in DEAD LAST. Always has. Always will. Its our special place in the world. Dead last. Even communities well to our EAST, with a storm coming from the west, will have steady rain long before Dale City sees its first drop. EDIT: Wait! Dale City has drizzle as of 950am! There's hope after all for today! I might get my rain after all!
Jebman
For some reason, radar does not cover eastern Prince William where I live very well. I am not sure why. This is yet another reason to go outside and take current weather obs in the field ,lol. We are finally receiving some steady light rain, much to my utter delight! Jebman
This excerpt is from the most recent AFD: .SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/... Low pressure will pass by to the north tonight and then rapidly intensify off the New England Coast Friday. Rain ahead of a warm front associated with the low will continue this evening across northern and eastern portions of the CWA before tapering off overnight. Upslope snow showers will develop this evening along and west of the Allegheny Front and continue through late tonight. Strong winds will develop overnight as the low pressure system begins to rapidly intensify. Despite unfavorable times for mixing...the cold advection and sharp pressure rises should be enough. Wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph are expected overnight. High Wind Warnings are in effect for much of the area. The strong winds will continue for Friday as well with the low pressure rapidly intensifying. Frequent gusts around 50 to 60 mph are expected. High Wind Warnings remain in effect for much of the area. For northeastern Maryland, the High Wind Watch remains in effect for late tonight into Friday evening. Confidence in the wind field strengthening aloft is a bit lower across these areas. Will take a closer look at some 12z guidance before deciding whether or not to upgrade. Wrap around rain and snow showers are possible across most of Maryland as well as the Washington and Baltimore Metropolitan areas Friday morning. Snow may coat the ground in a few spots but mainly on grassy surfaces given the marginal temperatures and recently warm conditions. Upslope snow with accumulation will continue Friday for locations along and west of the Allegheny Front. Strong winds are expected Friday evening. Winds may diminish a bit overnight but it still looks like it will be quite windy since the low will be slow to move away from the New England Coast. This is very very very serious for our area, this is potentially a very dangerous situation with regard to trees falling on houses, cars and powerlines. WVclimo
In Winchester in a nice snow squall. Winds gusting to 35 blowing the snow sideways. Coming down hard enough to coat the ground, including pavement.

clskinsfan
Second band just a nice as the first. Pretty wild the sun came out between both bands and melted just about all of the snow from the first band in 15 minutes. Heavy wind driven snow showers are great! This is crazy. I literally cant see 75 yards out right now. Crazy HEAVY snow. I literally just picked up .3 in like 10 minutes. Wild. Tried to post pictures from my phone. But 1.95 MB cap. Anybody know how to resize images on your phone?

wxdude64
Had a nice little snow shower roll thru around 7 am here, which got the ground white. Looks a LOT better that color, just my personal preference..... anyway, headed north to Highland county for the Maple Festival. Should be a much more solid white up there with all the snow showers last few days. JonJon I knew you had to have around a foot or so, when I get off and on snow showers that coat the ground and melt between rounds from NW that is the classic set up for 'Shoe to you to get dumped on. Hope all have a great weekend!
jonjon
Yes, we got over 13" the last couple of days. Hopped on my XC skis right out my front door and went out into the woods this morning for one of the best ski experiences of my life. Dog loved it, too. We had some base snow left over from last weeks snow so my skis never got wet or iced up, which is unusual where I went, especially in March.
