jacindc
I don't have a weather station, and I have not been glued to the window, but I get the sense that the southern part of the Hill is not getting hit like other areas. And the Pepco outage map bears this out--not a single outage south of Independence and west of the Anacostia in SE or SW.
jacindc
(that said, we basically never lose power here because our lines are buried, but still. I also haven't seen many reports of damage from this area)

WVclimo
Have lost a fair amount of roof shingles and some large tree branches, but that's the worst of the damage so far in my yard. What was surprising was seeing the basketball hoop at the top of our driveway that has a base filled with about 250 lbs of sand flipped over with the backboard on the ground and the base standing on edge. We have an umbrella in the pool area that is like that, but we took it apart for the winter so only the base is left outside. but good to know those things aren't completely wind proof. osfan24
Wife just left the house and said there are shingles and shutters just littered everywhere. Interested to see how bad it is when I head home. We had a big cold front come through last year or the year before that left similar damage.
