Eskimo Joe
We are running out of non critical areas to lose power in. Once you get over 50k outages, you start hitting critical infrastructure.

Anyone know how many lost power during the derecho? Honestly, Sandy wasn't even that bad at my house. I feel like we've had some cold fronts and winter storms and other tropical systems come through that have either compared or even exceeded the winds with Sandy. bigjohndc
I saw some power flashes in the distance early this morning. Otherwise we have been lucky. I don't know if it's just this part of PG, but the east side of the beltway doesn't seem as affected as Western suburbs.

Only way to beat this would be a tropical system landfalling west of us and hauling I think. The much fantasized Bay cane track, though even that would be shorter lived but stronger.
