The wind has really dropped in the last hour here in Silver Spring. Still gusty by "normal" standards but the trees aren't bending over anymore. So far not a lot of power outages in our immediate neighborhood, but it looks like outages are much worse over towards Potomac.

Still plenty of wind in our area of SS (slightly north of downtown).

Unless it's a Ryan home. ;)

Man, please don't use that stupid "wicked" term in this forum.

So true! We had a Ryan townhouse built in 2009. We've had issues with shingles and shutters flying off the house almost any time we get a powerful winter cold front or powerful winter storm. Today appears to be by far the worst though. For the side that faces w/nw, we've probably lost almost a quarter of the shingles and there is a few rows of them at the very top currently flapping up and down and constantly slamming against the roof.

I don't know if it's because they've built so many homes or if it's because they are an "affordable" builder, but I know many friends that have been inconvenienced by their work. But today is an extreme day.

Well if you can prove a storm ripped off the shingles... your home owners insurance should pay for a new roof

All I have to say is thank god there wasn’t arctic air in place for this.  Philly to Boston would have another historic blizzard and we’d be counting flakes.

IM just south of philly now on 95 and it’s pouring snow and sticking to everything. About an inch. So I think this might still be an unexpected something for this area.

all these coastal seem to never go south of the delaware/ md border

PEPCO now is showing 212,064 without power in their service area. It just keeps going up...

Question is how many of these are main feeder lines that can be fixed and drop the number substantially vs smaller outages.

Not many...we've been trying to work that for most of the day..

Why in God’s name would you go paddle boarding in this weather?

I am flagging. Slept horrible last night. Trying to nap and the winds have gotten bad again. May have to break out the cocktails tonight to put me out.

Got a little head start of you here.

And not directed at Mrs. J, but why does Fox News in Bmore have "Wicked Weather" as their banner headline? Come on! Don't be lame and use some other area's verbage. Especially New England.

Is there any evidence that BGE is under-representing outages? Never lost power at home in Towson, or at work in Lutherville ...

Expand

Yes. Their website says the outage numbers are inaccurate. Also if you look at the Maryland outage map - the numbers in their zones are all unrealistically low.

Any idea about power outages in Frederick county? I'm listening to the scanner and it's a constant inflow of calls about wires down... I still have power at this point. Somehow. Haha
