NJwx85
Still no closed 500mb low as of 12z Friday morning. Looks like the SLP is going to get pulled up over SNE.
NJwx85
Finally a closed 500mb low right over the Delmarva, that should be in a good spot. Strong lift in this area will lead to adiabatic cooling.
NJwx85
Precip develops in this area and rotates South as the CCB takes over. And 500mb jet increases lift, strong dynamics in play.

NJwx85
What a thing of beauty, really cranking by Friday night. Look at how the NAM is pushing the 32 degree line further South, crashing towards the coast.
NJwx85
Storm becomes stacked and begins to fill Friday night, but not before snowing itself out overhead, stalled.

NJwx85
Bad run for Boston btw, they are right on the edge of a very sharp cutoff.
Sn0waddict
Low went south which is nice, a little more east and a lot of the NYC metro could actually be in line for an accumulating snowfall

Sophisticated Skeptic
wow, nam’s a big hit. Knew it would happen, early March storms. qpf massively increased on the backside. 2 major winter storms occurring in England at the moment too. 2nd one to hit Thursday night...what a coincidence . If you want snow on Long Island you need the low to close off later.

NJwx85
Once that low closes off, the storm peaks and then begins to weaken. Where that happens is very critical.
donsutherland1
This is a very nice run away from the coast. Even the coast gets into some accumulating snowfall. Between an all rain event and this, I'll take it. In addition, the storm, as modeled on the NAM, would go a long way toward reducing seasonal snowfall deficits in such cities as Binghamton and Scranton. NJwx85
I'm sure they are panicking in the New England forum. This was not only a terrible run for them in terms of being on the edge of the heaviest in Boston, but they don't get the strong dynamics since the system closes off too far South.
