fourseasons
About 3 miles north of Ft. Belvoir, it's raining pretty heavily and the pavement is wet but there is ice accumulation on the trees (not a lot at the moment, but it's noticeable) and also on windows. Temp is recording 32.9 and it tends to run slightly warm I’ve noticed. I was just going to ask this same question. I have a PWS and while there has been steady rain there is no accumulation recorded. Yep, I've been sitting at 32-33 for the past few hours. Only can see a little ice on the trees as far as I can tell.

ErinInTheSky
Back down to 32. There is no way I hit my high today. The high was 44, it's already lowered to 36. I doubt we even hit that. The ice on the trees is melting slowly but there should be quite a bit left when it freezes tonight.
Eskimo Joe
Frederick County west of US 15 really got a solid ice storm...multiple roads closed due to large trees down on them. Several calls for transformers partially off the poles too. Saw a report from Thurmont of M0.5" ZR from an NWS employee. One of these days they're going to have to split Frederick County into 2 forecast zones (east/west of US 15) because the weather is so remarkably different, IMO. Ice accumulations around one quarter to one half inch occurred across these areas. Gusty northwest winds are expected to develop behind a cold front between 4 and 7 pm this afternoon into this evening. Gusts around 30 to 40 mph are expected through most of tonight. The strong winds combined with ice on trees and power lines may cause large tree limbs to fall...possibly leading to scattered power outages across the area. Temperatures will rapidly fall behind the cold front as well and this may cause any wet surfaces to re-freeze. Please use extra caution if travelling tonight. joeride
I live in Thurmont. Our high for today was 33, for roughly 2 hours. It's 31 now power lines are down everywhere. It's going to be awful when the wind picks up tonight 15 mph winds gusting to 30, trees and power lines will be no match.

joeride
I just back in from feeding the animals. I measured 3/8" off of two different tree limbs. Wires are hanging too low for comfort. I'm really worried about the wind tonight.

ErinInTheSky
I've been at 32 degrees all day, I no longer trust my daily highs. That being said, this latest round of rain, even at 32 degrees on the ground, has sort of melted everything. Will make for a good re-freeze overnight though. I am just East of 15 off of 340, Ballenger Creek Area W of 270 S of 70. We got a lot more here than I though we were supposed to get. The Frederick Scanner page is busy this afternoon. Close to 1700+ power outages in Frederick Co. alone. Currently have about .3 inch of ice on the trees and sitting at 32 deg. The winds tonight should be interesting. WVclimo
Finding some measurements of 0.50" of ice accumulation, with the majority being at least 0.40" Props to LWX. I was skeptical of their call yesterday but they nailed it here.
