Jandurin
I'd say 70 being closed due to accidents in Howard County is indicative of actual ice problems.
ErinInTheSky
Had to drive to Baltimore airport this morning on 200 -> 95. The stretch of 200 in Gaithersburg was not great, as it was still under freezing. It got better the closer you got to 95 though. Local roads in Gaithersburg sucked though. Everything is iced over and frozen.
notvirga!
I'm also in Howard County, and while I haven't been out on the roads yet, (had a hard time unlocking my car due to ice) the parking lot in my apartment complex has long patches of solid ice where all the rain froze. Looks like a flash freeze situation.
mappy
love waking up to a 2hr delay that turns into closed school. momma got to sleep in. woo. icy as hell up my way, though highway was fine. backroads were messy. very pretty drive to work however with all the ice shimmering in the sun. MillvilleWx
Drive to work was beautiful, but getting out of the driveway was not. Lots of trees encased in ice that glistened in the sun. Really pretty, but some of the branches are taking a beating right now. Lot of bent trees to near the ground. Round 2 possible on Wednesday. gymengineer
Interesting event overall-- broke 1" precip at all three airports. So, this was the first event in awhile that over-performed the model blend on QPF. And it was once again a confirmation to never use the GFS for surface temps in any freezing rain situation. mappy
Ice covered trees and some of the lawn still exist up this way. Never broke 32 for a high .
