WVclimo Posted February 4, 2018 Share Posted February 4, 2018 Sleet is now mixing in with the moderate snow that has been falling. 1.6" so far which is my largest snowfall of the winter. NWS Employee just north of Chantilly just reported 0.1" freezing rain accretion, so it's getting pretty ugly out there. Temperatures not budging with surface winds still calm across the area. Seems heavier bands want to flip to big (quarter and larger) flakes then when precip lets up back to this. Another 1/2 inch easy in that last band...pushing 3 inches for day. At 11, I looked out at the trees and they were just wet. As of 15 minutes, the trees have small icicles but the grass and driveway was just wet.
