I don't want to donut off the side of the mountain. It's extremely slick because it's wet snow. My acura traction control was working overtime. It's easier to use my headlights to get a photo in the dark.
1234snow
Finally switched to heavy snow about an hour behind schedule. Probably will wind up with less than an inch. I’m going outside for a Jebwalk!

Stovepipe
Usually MRX is like "there is a slight chance of some light drizzle" But tonight they're like: I hope they are right for folks north of 40 and east.
1234snow
Currently coming down in thick concrete buckets. Heaviest snow since Feb of 15. Temp down to 34.
John1122
The snow is impressively heavy when you get under it. Big ol silver dollars that just dump down on you. It's over here now. Probably 3 inches fell and 1.5 stuck. It's been a long slow process but I'm now over 5 inches on the year, making it a better year than last, so I'm not going to set another record for lack of snow. But probably will set one for least snow in a winter that was below normal on temps.
Jed33
Nice heavy dusting here now. Probably between 1/4-1/2in on grass temp 32. Dp
BhamParker
Really hope that the NW flow kicks in and kinda stalls the band over the mountains for a couple hours because it’s moving out quick!

I don't think there's going to be much in the way of flow snow tonight. So basically what fell already will probably be it.
BlunderStorm
I'm giddy to report 3.5 inches so far. I will post a pic or two once my camera charges.
Runman292
Not even a trace in South Knoxville. It stayed as a mix through the end.
Windspeed
John, are you squeezing any snow out of the NW flow?

Yeah I never even saw any fatty flakes. Just a light to moderate slop. Schools may even run on time despite the temps crashing later. Still at 37 degrees here lol. BlunderStorm
Here it is! This event was quite an over performer for me. To those who weren't as lucky hopefully the next opportunity turns things around.

Windspeed
How are things going down in TRI? I'm not complaining. It's definitely lightened up from the heavy stuff earlier. I do think I'm going to manage 2" though.
Windspeed
Last gasp here with flurries. Really interesting on the surface temps around the region. After falling rapidly with the column, it leveled off at 32° here in TRI. Surface flow is driving down through SE KY though. It's 22° in London. Surfaces should be fun in the morning. Warmer air still hanging on in the central valley with many still at 36-37 degrees at 2am according to wunderground. This is not unlike the SREF depiction from days ago. I like the 'NAM ensembles' for short term accuracy these days.
Jed33
Ended up with about 3/4 in which melted into 1/2 of crunchy icy concrete overnight. Just a glaze on roads. Temp is 20. It may not be the deepest snow, but it is perfect for sledding as it’s super slick. Really the best for sledding this year.

tnweathernut
North Johnson City registered a heavy dusting. South Johnson City looked to have registered a light dusting (as well as Erwin). I noticed temperatures leaving Erwin yesterday were around 55 (5:30 PM) degrees. Going through JC the temperature dropped to 51 in south JC, 49 in the heart of JC, and 47 in north JC. Quite the difference that ended up showing in the snow department.
nrgjeff
Classic warm nose special for the mid-lower Valley. Chart earlier in the thread showing cold banked north explains the sharp dividing line. On a south wind, up where the Valley orientation shifts, nowhere for the cold to go. Windspeed
Crazy day and never got around to posting but we finished a little over an inch of snow. Less than I thought. Appears the initial heavy rate melted into a slush. That all froze into concrete by sunrise. Still looked lovely yesterday morning. All-in-all a nice little winter event.
