Is this more rare than the 60s even at the summits on Christmas Eve back in 2015? That to me was crazy. I feel like we get one of these wow torches almost every year at some point now, ha. That was 73 set last year.

Just beating records set in recent years. Up here I'd be curious to see number of times say MVL exceeds 55F in the winter, 60F would probably be a narrower group. Seems like once a winter at least. Good thing is we should be able to enjoy it today unlike yesterday trapped in the mank under the inversion.

I know it is just coincidence but to have two air masses like this in Feb in back to back years is also amazing

Sooo it's not Morch 2012 but a pretty darn close second with brownie points for occurring a month earlier. I mean if this was 3rd week of march with this exact setup, would there be 80's somewhere? CoastalWx
Unless the clouds are stubborn today, I don't see why Logan can't at least tie 73.

powderfreak
Crazy to see the inversion break and locally MVL went from 40F to 57F in under 2 hours. Low overnight will go in as 34F despite 57F at sunrise lol.

It’s scary and hard to sit with. Obviously practically, 72 degrees is delightful. But in Feb is off putting. Call me a weenie, but it’s the beginning of some massive changes that are going to start happening rapidly.

I just want the ice gone and the ground to thaw out a bit. The rain/ice-arctic-rain/ice pattern has been a mess. Thaw it out and start anew.
