We have one last shot at a big snowstorm between March 5-10th as the negative NAO rebounds, and if we miss I think that's about it.

I disagree

Blocks take time to break down

Agreed, the blocking pattern will also favor Europe much more than us with both cold & snow.

You don't know that yet

Storm chances normally occur as the block is breaking down, not while it's occurring.

Get out and enjoy the May like weather today. Winter is over for the most part. Whatever we do get in terms of snowfall the next few weeks will be short lived like Saturday's snow was. 8" gone and melted in 48 hours.

This is only the 12th time in 150 years of record-keeping that the temperature has hit 70° or above in the month of February in New York City. The problem is we also did it last year. It may be nice out, at least to some people, but this is just not normal. It may be the new normal but it's not healthy and it actually scares me when you think about it. Where does it end?

To put it into perspective it's 74° right now in Central Park. The average high temperature doesn't hit 74 in Central Park until May 26. And of course that's using the inflated averages from 1981 to 2010 when we were already warming up. Really makes you think.

The fact that it's happening every year is a huge deal. We've also been very fortunate that summer has been fairly tame lately, that won't last forever.
