I would like to have solar power too. thanks for any ideas. I have been running a Davis VUE for some years and it has performed flawlessly. Yearly maintenance consists of inspection, cleanup and change of batteries. It is wireless and compatible with their data logger. For raw wind data, I have a Maximum Maestro 2S in the event that we have a decent wind gust. Here in NW Louisiana we rarely have winds, even in thunderstorms. yotaman
I have the Davis Vantage Pro 2. Love it but it is an older model and they no longer make the humidity sensor for it. I have had too replace it 3 times since I have owned it but since they have upgraded the sensor, the reliability should be better.
doncat
Definitely the Vantage Pro2... Still using my original installed in 2003. Have replaced rain gage, anemometer and temp sensor once during that time...No other problems to speak of. Backup battery in iss has been replaced 3 or 4 times, so very good indeed. Not a fan of the all in one stations at all... Can't have temp, rain and wind sensor at same height and expect accuracy on all three. Of course budget and installation availability may limit what you can purchase.
