I'd say 6 - 8" in Kitty Hawk. Believe we started with ice pellets around 8pm last night. The wind blew hard last night and I've seen drifts over 2 feet tall around structures. My only complaint is that in came in overnight and I couldn't see it as the event unfolded.

Very cool! I'm going to Kitty Hawk for my summer vacation this year. Disney World last year; this year we're toning it down. Love the Outer Banks.

The one day record for ORF is 17.5”. They didn’t set a record unless you mean for that particular day.

So, was Snowmaggedon January 2018 a glorified Clipper, Arctic Bondary Frontal Passage, or both?

I like to put this in the group of storms that drop in from the northwest (at 500mb).  The weaker versions of the storms are deemed clippers.  The stronger ones like this one can be termed Manitoba Maulers (dropping sharply southeast out of Manitoba)...this one fits that moniker
