Opening up a snow forecast thread for our impending blizzard :)

I will put up a $25 reward (Paypal or Mailed Visa Gift Card) for the winner.  If anyone else wants to contribute to the pot, just send me a message or post in here.

Update: Reward is now $100.  JoshM has contributed $25 via a code number to enter at restaurant.com, frazdaddy contributed $25, Justicebork contributed $25.

Anyone from any forum is welcome to participate.  Meteorologists, Amateurs, all are welcome.

Here's how it will work.  You predict the total snowfall accumulation for the storm, for the selected 8 cities below (official airport snow total).  The person with the least amount of differential from the cumulative total will be the winner.  Here's an example using 3 cities...Forecaster predicts 2.0 at AVL and actual snow is 2.1, predicts 2.0 at GSO and actual snow is 1.9, and predicts 2.0 at RDU and actual snow is 2.0.  The total differential in this case is 0.2.  If there is a tie, I will use the forecaster's 3 best city predictions and compute the differential.  If still a tie, we will use RDU for the tiebreaker.

Place your predictions within this thread.  Predictions directly messaged to me will not be accepted!

Deadline is Tuesday at 4PM - you can edit your post up until the deadline.

Can a moderator setup this thread to automatically lock at 4PM Tuesday?

Here are the cities:

AVL (Asheville, NC)

GSP (Greenville/Spartanburg, SC)

CLT (Charlotte, NC)

GSO (Greensboro, NC)

RDU (Raleigh, NC)

DAN (Danville, VA)

PGV (Greenville, NC)

ORF (Norfolk, VA)

AVL (Asheville, NC):  1.5"

GSP (Greenville/Spartanburg, SC):  2"

CLT (Charlotte, NC):  2.5" (sorry QC) :(

GSO (Greensboro, NC):  5"

RDU (Raleigh, NC):  7"

DAN (Danville, VA):  5.5"

PGV (Greenville, NC):  3"

ORF (Norfolk, VA):  2"

Unlike Mack's post!

Edit:  Boosted GSO from 3 to 4 and DAN from 5 to 5.5.  Trimmed PVG from 4 to 3 and slashed ORF from 5.5 to 2.  And still unlike Mack's post!

Edit2:  Boosted GSO to from 4 to 5 and GSP from 1.5 - 2.  Final call -- 3:57 PM.  Still unlike on Mack.

Dude... If PGV and ORF get what you predict, I will buy you a sixer of your choosing. I say that because ECG sits between the two and it would give us more than the dusting we’re expecting.
