BK Rambler
Temperature climbing - now 33/11 - you can see the precip disappear on the radar as it runs into the dry air wedge extending over into metro ATL
Silas Lang
Wow, just looked at Ray's weather and the temperature spread for Buncombe county is insane. 39 at airport and 27 in Weaverville. 29 at UNCA and 35 in downtown and those are only a mile apart! Very interesting.
BooneWX
Torching here in the mountains of all places. There is tremendous irony after these past two weeks, for a storm to flop because it's too warm outside.
Lettucesnow
It's almost unbelievable! After probably the coldest and longest lasting arctic wave that I can remember in North Carolina, our temperatures shoot up JUST before the first sign of any precipitation arrives. I was hoping for wet bulb temperatures below freezing to help turn this into something, but with temperatures soaring up quickly past the freezing mark in Asheville, it seems unlikely at this point, except for areas outside of the mountains, where the least amount of precipitation is forecast to reach the ground. Interestingly, temperatures on the East side of Asheville are in the mid-30s while they remain in the upper-20s on the West side.

Yep, seen it many, many times over the years. The higher elevations will be well above freezing while we get rain and temps in the upper 20's to around 30 degrees. Not saying that this will end up that way. Just giving folks an idea of how our damming sets up.
BullCityWx
Dewpoint shot up 30 degrees in four hours with no precip at AVL.

I think I was just surprised at how fast the colder air was pushed out of Boone specifically. The town is more or less a high elevation valley. NYweatherguy
Up to 30 degrees now here in Buford, GA. Dew point is 15 and rising quick. I think by the time we see any precip, it will be plain old rain.
CummingGaSnow
Well, I suppose the models were right on lack of precip. Radar looked great last night but I guess it all dried up. 32.6/17 and rising. Looking at radar, not sure there is even enough precip to get to the sfc; might be wasted on virga. Oh well. Red1976Red
If anyone is above 32, pour some water on surfaces to see if they still freeze. This is being done by the NWS. I think areas in the mid 30s will still wetbulb and or be in play if precip occurs.
BornAgain13
Temp around 30 and steadily rising... Sunny Skies!
Red1976Red
Yesterday I thought precip would wait until a little after lunch time in the piedmont near winston, now it may way till sunset! Oops. Probably before 2pm for most of the mountains and closer to 4pm foothills. This will allow additional heating because of anemic returns running into the mountains. LithiaWx
33 and rain in kennesaw. Looks like this will only be a concern in GA in far NW GA where there was a 35 car pileup on I-75 due to freezing rain.
CummingGaSnow
I'm up to 33.6/18. "Heavier" returns coming my way from Cherokee but they don't even look heavy enough to get to the sfc.

Red1976Red
Meaningful Wetbulbing likely won’t occur in the Carolinas east of 77, I don’t see enough moisture for that process. Still could see an icy surface tho if it stops warming there.
