It would not be enough for most businesses to cancel and in fact my wife's lab is open. Course in science labs they don't generally care what time you come in. NJwx85 Posted January 4, 2018 Share Posted January 4, 2018 Coming down decently here, about 0.25" to 0.50" accumulation so far. Visibility is poor due to the strong winds. Yes... SW Suffolk in West Islip... winds are a whipping (20+, gusts to 35-40 I would think)... heavy snow and 4+ OTG.... hard to measure.... it just keeps moving..... Soon the winds will pick up even more from the west and the precip will start shifting east. Also getting eight of a mile visibility, i'm guessing 2 inch per hour snowfall rates now.
