That may be so but it sure doesn't explain the 12.7 inches at Newark or the 5.2 inches at LaGuardia which was a 1 o'clock there. 12.7 at Newark was the 4 PM update.

No point in complaining nothings ever really done about it, but I'll continue to complain anyway.

I read Newark had 6.6

I think the 29.25" is barometric pressure.

Thank you!  Sorry for the confusion.  Of course that was the pressure.   Maybe two or three  years ago, I could have measured that!!   Better give the pressure in MB's next time. LOL!

I think they reported 8 on the ground recently so somewhere near 9.    I just realized they had Laguardia at 6.80 liquid today too...that should be 70-75 inches of snow

They had 6.6 as of noon or so according to NJ.com, so they maybe added to it after that. 8 sounds about right.

For a fast moving storm, what a bomb it was. .epic snow rates, windy as hell and no rain/ snow line crap we always deal with..great storm..stressful as hell for the last week, but worth it..on to the next!!

well some of us had to watch the banding stop short of us, which is as frustrating as a rain line.....

On second thought, I think we may have gotten to 12 or 13”. After walking around some more, there are drifts a good 4ft high or so, and the amount of snow we have in the streets still makes me think we’re about there. I know about roof blowoff though and know some of the totals will likely be inflated. Regardless, this is one of my all time favorites around here for sure. What a beast especially late morning and from 1-3:30pm.

Also, light snow again now from the last weenie band coming through.

Hard to measure but I'm going with 13"

Bayville, 63 mph gust

Their 1PM report, at 4PM they reported 12.7. I doubt it, just like I doubt LGA 5.2 and KNYC 7.8

Elizabeht had 8.5 which seems about right for Newark too, I mean part of the airport is actually in Elizabeth, which has canceled school tomorrow mainly due to the cold. Most schools around here are following suit and esp schools in Monmouth on down. Can't have kids waiting for buses in -10 windchills. You'd be surprised at how ill dressed these kids come in to school in winter.

And just got in from shoveling, then going on a little drive. As of 2 pm, we have 6.0", so we surpassed by 5.5" guesstimate; had 1/2" per hour rates for the past 2 hours.  Gessing we'll tack on another 1/2" or so before it ends as it's been snowing moslty lightly.  Great storm.  My one surprise, which I haven't investigated, is I'm pretty sure we got standard 10:1 ratios, not the 15:1 or so many thought we would get, including me -(been shoveling for decades and this snow "felt" fairly dense) .  Has anyone checked this or have spotters/NWS reported on it?

Side streets are all snow-covered and a tough go, while county roads are a bit better.  Route 1 is very slushy and slow, while 287 has some slushy spots, but isn't that bad, especially since traffic is very light.  With the snow ending out here, the rush hour or what's left of it (traffic is really light) might not be too bad near I-95 and west with the snow winding down.

So, I went out to shovel again around 3:30 pm, after the snow had essentially stopped and ther was close to an inch of snow on the driveway, but I'm pretty sure some of that was blown there, so I didn't just add the 1" to my 6".  I did my usual walk around our large relatively quiescent backyard and took about 15 measurements, because there was still some variability, due to blowing.  The range was about 4-8" and my overall average was about 6.5", but I'm sure it could've been anywhere from 6 to 7".  6.5" on top of the 10.2" we've had so far brings me to 16.7" for the winter, which is great.  One of my favorite storms to track, but certainly nowhere near my top 10 to experience - never got the intense bands and wasn't that windy this far inland.

I have to say overall one of my favorites. That deform in the city was epic. Legitmit blizzard conditions met. Zero visabilty for an extended period.

The tracking was awesome. Some great posters in this forum that nailed this thing. I was close but off by about 50 miles to Far East

10” here on the UWS

Going with 13” for Wantagh based on RJAY and JM.

23” on the season in wantagh!!

So bummed to have missed this. We apparently had snow coming IN our apartment through a window exposed to the NNE. Hoping to get home tomorrow night; at least the snow won't melt for weekend sledding.

I guess I’ll go with 13” based on the other reports I’ve seen and the fact we had a head start on most with the early morning snow band. We also didn’t have a long lasting lull before the awesome early afternoon deform band. That brings me up to 21.6” on the season, awesome when we’re still early on. Crazy that Nassau County and maybe parts of Queens had similar totals to the Boston area. Would’ve definitely wagered against that 24 hrs ago.

I was back at my folks' place for Jan 2016 so this is a bit biased, but this was easily the best NYC storm I've experienced. More of a blizzard than 2016 ever was, and such an exciting storm to track. Couldn't walk north and see at the same time. Snow growth after around noon was most optimal I've seen in years.
