TalcottWx
Mesoscale Discussion 0005 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0506 AM CST Thu Jan 04 2018 Areas affected...From eastern New Jersey and Delaware into southern New England Concerning...Heavy snow Valid 041106Z - 041700Z SUMMARY...Snow rates will increase in intensity through midday, with max rates to 3"/hr into southern New England after about 10am local time. DISCUSSION...Precipitation continues to increase offshore as the surface low rapidly deepens. The heaviest snow bands were affecting eastern New Jersey as of 10Z but heavy snow was rapidly developing across Long Island. The zone of strongest frontogenetical forcing will lift northward and strengthen through late morning, likely resulting in an intense, pivoting band of heavy snow capable of 2-3"/hr rates from central Long Island to Boston. The rain/snow line will remain nearly stationary near or just west of Cape Cod.

Hoth
I have a sneaking suspicion that in retrospect blizzard warnings might be warranted for coastal CT. Quite windy and heavy snow now.
