snowinnc
Thrilled that be getting some light snow but everyone around me in Western Wake County keeps talking about amazing rates but we haven’t had anything like that. I would love to see something like that!
tazaroo
Have about an inch here in Ramseur/ Eastern Randolph County. I'll call that a win. Definitely over performed here. We weren't supposed to get anything. Congrats to those South and East. This is a reverse of the standard nw is better standard.

ncskywarn
Only got about a inch here in far Western Cary about a mile from the Chatham County line. Don't think I am going to be getting very much additional just by looking at the radar looks like the back edge is approaching fast. More would have been nice but at the same time just glad I didn't get shut out.
lookingnorth
Still extremely light flakes here in Chapel Hill, but it's basically done.

DownS.EasternVa
Snowing Heavy in P-Town(Portsmouth, Va) no mixing all night so far been coming down since 8:30. Pushing around 2.5 in, small flakes tho. The radar downstream looks unreal if that's all snow, somebody is getting 1' plus.
PortsmouthWeather
Same here, live in riverpoint section of portsmouth and I am pushing 3 inch's, but the rates are really picking up!
downeastnc
3" down according to models maybe another 6" to go.....coming down hard now still woudl like to see bigger flakes but rates are insane...winds gusting mid 20's all the time now might even get some 30-40 mph gust in the next few hrs as this monster blows off just offshore... WeatherNC
Jacksonville has to be getting crushed right now, you can see the gravity waves on the MHX site along the crystal coast. 700mb fronto map posted in the MA sub looks good for the coastal plain

WhiteoutWX
We’ve got half an eyewall on Morehead City radar lol. What a fascinating system
Jet Stream Rider
Yeah I noticed that Jacksonville to New Bern area looks to be getting pasted. Even Elizabeth City has some yellow returns and could be in process of converting to snow, Temp is down a couple of degrees there to
shaggy
Sitting close to 3 inches just eyeballing it. Tiny flakes but good ratios apparently making up for it. Wind is starting to howl and blow it all around. Need that heavier stuff over Jacksonville to head my way.
WeatherNC
I am also around 3” between Greenville and FarmVille, been under ~30dbz returns for the past hour. Estimate 1”hr rates, minor drifting.

HRRR gives us 1-2" a hr rates for the next 4 hrs.....thats 4-8" more so I doubt its right but even half that is

Thinking 4 to 6 is solid maybe squeak out 6 to 8 If ratios kee helping us out.
WeatherNC
I heard and saw reports from this afternoon / early evening with that central NC band and the size of the dendrites were a lot bigger than what we are currently seeing. Unless this goes to crap quick some impressive totals are going to come out along the central and northern inner banks.

PortsmouthWeather
I'm up to 4 inches total here in Portsmouth, VA sitting at 32 degrees. The snow is now really starting to pickup now and is moderate - heavy. We have stayed all snow and appeared just nw of the transition line initially. I am surprised at the speed it's piling up out there even with the small flakes. Bet we see someone with a foot down that way.

SteveVa
In case y'all want to see some pics from Va Beach town center and you don't follow the Hampton Roads thread in MA forum... They're kind of bad quality, but it's the effort that counts...first photo is from 10:30pm, the other one is from about half an hour ago. At this point there is probably around 4" on the ground. Went for a drive and I found that there is a sharp decline in snow amounts as you go east. According to friends, Norfolk already has 6"+. Roads are in pretty bad shape and some tools are still doing the speed limit lol.
downeastnc
Windy, high rates, still below average flakes but its piling up out there probably 5-6" down if the HRRR is to be believed maybe another 4-6" dunno if it keeps this up 3-4 more hrs I will get that much... kinda long wind gusting 25-30 here now..... PortsmouthWeather
Up to 5 inch's now with heavy snow. Looking at radar and RAP/HRRR, we might have another 8 - 10 on the way. Wow!!
