Chicago WX
So close... 6:00/7:00 AM min temps IKK -18˚ (which is the current temp) LAF -19˚ PNT did hit -20˚ this morning, so that makes for back-to-back mins of -20˚ or colder.
CoachLB
Made it down to -13.
buckeye
Clouds saved cmh and points east from having the bottom drop out, (i.e. -10 to -15 like western OH). Here imby, the skies cleared around 6am and temps went from 2 to -5 amazingly fast.
CoachLB
Dropped to -15 windchill -30.
vespasian70
As buckeye already pointed out, the clouds kept us from bottoming out. Thankfully 2 was the lowest I've seen here.

MBY bottomed out at +2 when I checked at 630am, but haven't checked since and can't until I get home later. CMH kept tumbling as well; +2 at 7am, -2 at 8am, and -4 at 9am. hawkeye_wx
We came up a few degrees short of the previous night here in the city, but the Cedar Rapids airport hit -23 again, breaking the old record of -19. This is three straight record lows for CR.
Geoboy645
Got down to -8 here. That smaller snow pack is really saving us from some extremely cold temperatures. I think New Years Eve we would've got to -20 or -25 or even lower if we had a normal snow pack.
cyclone77
-17 here. DVN, Clinton, and Sterling hit -20.

Chambana
Clouds rolled in last night and held the temp steady at -14 for four hours, finally cleared out and dropped to -16. We have now spent 44 hours now with temps below zero. Sunday is going to feel like a heatwave with temps in the mid 30’s lol.
hawkeye_wx
At 1pm, Cedar Rapids officially rose above zero for the first time since early Saturday morning. Here in the city we poked above on Sunday.
OHweather
We don't have the sexy lows here (coldest min at CLE so far is 0), but if CLE manages to not tick up to 20 or 21 tomorrow they'll pull off 13 straight days below 20, which I believe may be a record. We don't do prolonged cold as well as the rest of the Midwest due to modification from the lakes and an easier time for warm air to glide up west of the Appalachians, so this is impressive either way. May have a better shot at bottoming out one night over the weekend, especially if we get more ice on the lake upwind of CLE.

Chambana
Forgot to mention CMI also broke another record last night the official low was -15 smashing the old record of -11 from 1928. Super impressive. Also forgot to mention windchill values were -36 this morning.
XfireLOW
How long can you guys in Ohio/Indiana/Illinois handle these temps with regards to ground frost and water lines freezing? My area is accustomed to the temps you have been getting recently, but I believe by code, water mains have to be 6-8 feet below grade here in northern Minnesota. I am guessing most of your areas it closer to 3 feet?

CoalCityWxMan
It's already -5 when the forecasted low is 2. I know temps will rise after 2am but still, looks like another night of over (under?) achieving temps

michsnowfreak
Its frigid here, but much colder in IN/OH this morning than here. Clouds and flurries here. Plus it was odd in lower MI today, the "warmest" highs were near the Mackinac bridge and the coldest the OH border.

Jackstraw
-5. P&C low was 2 above didn't see the minus sign lol, -2(IND) -3(IWX) although we have risen from -6 an hour ago. Temps may begin to moderate (tongue in cheek) overnight as the ridge drifts off to the SE and winds pick up a bit.
RCNYILWX
The Watseka, IL COOP (Iroquois County) bottomed out at -22 Tuesday morning. That's the coldest in the LOT CWA in the Monday-Tuesday stretch I think.Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
