Chambana
Riding the razor thin line here, appears the heaviest snow will fall just north of champaign, only picked up around 1” here, still enough to refresh the winter landscape just in time for the arctic air mass. cyclone77
2.8" here. A bit of an underperformer but still a solid event.
snowlover2
Steady moderate snow falling. Somewhat small flake size.
Jim Martin
Steady snow falling here downtown. Flake size so far relatively small.
CoachLB
Pretty saturated snow. Just a hair better than pixie dust.
homedis
We barely have .5” here in N Cook County. The swath of heavy snow is a lot more narrow than expected. Oh well, what’s new!
cyclone77
Would love to do a core sample on this stuff and see what our LSR is. It seems pretty fluffy. I'm guessing ratios were decent, but the precip just wasn't as much as expected. My dad just to the southwest in the QC says he has a good 5" there. Looks like we just missed the heavy band here. My forecast busted high on both the xmas eve snow, and today. Guess I'll be more conservative for the next event.
vespasian70
Pixie dust here. Looks like the best band will slip just to the south of me. And a couple of days ago I was worry about a miss to the north ...

The north shift from this decent system pushed the QC over the futility record for least snowfall in a calendar year. Dubuque has received a couple inches, which gets them pretty close to the record low.
snowlover2
Got 1.5" and snowing heavy with good sized flakes.

Dubuque had 1.9" today, which I believe will leave them around an inch under the record.
McDude
Storm sucks. Under performer. Might not reach 2". Someone asked why this forum sucks. Because you banned Alek. And that person should be banned. Also, Twitter. Bye.

Excited you guys got hit decently out there. We were more or less missed by the day portion of this storm. Just constant light flurries for 4 hours. But now this random band of snow has popped up right over us and so far has brought almost an inch more of snow and we'll likely get to a total of 1.5 for the storm, 4" on the ground. hawkeye_wx
The Quad Cities could get another inch this evening(pushing Moline over 6") from the last snow band passing through. A good burst of large flakes just boosted my total. There is even a speck of yellow on radar nw of DVN, so you know the flakes are quite large. snowlover2
Up to 2.5" with 1" coming in less than an hour. With what's yet to come in IN/IL might make a run at 4".

hawkeye_wx
Some locations from Iowa City to Muscatine/Quad Cities are going to end up with 7+ inches. The snow on the back end of this system is real high ratio stuff... total fluff. Just before it got dark, a half inch of this stuff on my patio was so airy I could see the pavement through it.
