Unless a marked increase in flake size or intensity occurs, areas north of 88 will bust well low. The flakes are pretty big in the city, big increase in size in the last 5 minutes. Hopefully same thing will happen by you

zinski1990
Started snowing about an hour and a half ago westside of Indy. About to get a moderate to heavier band move through. Nice to see a steady and good snow in our area. Been a long time

Tough to swallow when things look solid for good ratios. I could understand if we were talking GHD type winds where flakes are being shredded, but the models keep missing a bit on the soundings. It's kind of weird actually

There were signs yesterday of flake size being a potential problem, especially outside of the core of the snow band.

Hoosier
State Street in Chicago. Flake size does seem decent in this shot. Perhaps michsnowfreak shipped the Wyandotte magic.
snowlover2
ILN still calling for 2-3" here in the new update. That could be on the low side imo looking at the radar and path of the heaviest snow. Thinking at least 4" is a real possibility here.
Indystorm
Good rate of pixie dust here in ne Indpls metro at this time. Glad I made it back on I-65 this morning before the snow started. Now to relax and enjoy it!

Chicago Storm
Have had -SN here since about 11:30, with 0.6" thus far. Has mostly been pixie dust until recently, with better flake size.

Radtechwxman
Seems like this season getting nice fat dendrites has been hard to come by. As much as I love clippers I would love to see a classic panhandle hook low plow through here with some blizzard conditions and crazy snow rates. But so far this clipper has been nice. Been in that narrow band between I74 and I80. Flake size has been decent at times but overall small but it has been coming down at a moderate pace
snowlover2
And so it begins here. Light snow falling.

But yea honestly models didn't do well with this They always struggle with events that rely on saturation, as was the case for those near the gradient in IA/IL. The GFS/GGEM especially failed with it, while the NAM's and their sharp gradient/more northern placement of the heavier snowfall axis will win out. As they should, since that's in their wheel-house. hawkeye_wx
We just hit 4 inches, so with the flake size and snow rate increasing again 5-6 should be easy.

Hoosier
Looking out the window here, flake size still not that great. Maybe a modest improvement. I want some fat dendrites.

Indystorm
Yeah, good banding of heavier precip from central IN westward to central IL. 3-5 inches of snow predicted here locally. Roads already a mess.

ams30721us
Wow, remarkable size increase in the past hour here in Davenport. Heavy snow now w/ very low visibility. Big fat flakes for about the past 20-30 minutes!

A little better than I expected to be honest.
