MarkO
I escaped the insane cold of Thornton and am back in Lowell where it's averaged about 10F warmer. Probably the coldest 5 consecutive days I've ever experienced.
adk
Still -9F in Montreal. Hit Zero here in BTV. Time for the shorts. Looks so inviting outside. Blue skies. No wind. White snowpack. It's not.

donsutherland1
Boston's 4 consecutive low temperatures below 10° during the December 27-31, 2017 period was the first such stretch in December since December 20-23, 1955.

powderfreak
We've found a winner with -39F on the NY State Mesonet in Philadelphia, NY. That's their second -39F in 4 days. Jesus H. Quote Happy New Year from the NYS Mesonet! Winter's New Year's resolution appears to be to stay exceptionally cold. Last night was yet another very cold night, and our Philadelphia station was once again the "winner" with a -38.9 F low - narrowly missing out on the -39.3 F reading they had a few days ago. But I think this holds the place of most persistent bitter cold. Temps 10-15 for highs and nights near or just below 0 with wind are brutal. MarkO
Looks like Boston may go a week without being over 20F. Last time that happened was 100 years ago exactly. Of course back then they weren't record keeping at Logan which arguably makes this stretch even more impressive.
