For example, right now, they are forecasting a four-day snowstorm in the DC area for December 28-31, totaling 28.1 inches in DC and 33.1 inches at Dulles. I think you're correct, as now (13 hours after my opening post), they are showing no snow at all for DC and just 1.2 inches for Dulles in that same four-day window!
