Interesting I told someone that oh look Seattle is getting a white Christmas (2 inches of snow I think?) and so is Portland., but in NYC it's been raining.  And they said well of course that's normal because Seattle is much further north in latitude than NYC is! I started to explain how Seattle normally gets much less snow than NYC regardless of its latitude, but why bother?

 

Anyway some really nice pics coming out of the Pac NW too.  No one was really talking about them getting a snowstorm for Christmas and now they have it.

 

Seattle is the big rarity winner for a white Christmas.

We are now up to 2.2 inches of snow on the ground here at the NWS office at Sand Point in Seattle. Still snowing lightly. #wawx
 
Measurable snow on Christmas Eve in Seattle is a rare event. Since the 1890's here the complete list... 1. 2.6" 2008 2. 2.5" 1926 3. 1.5" 1911 4. 0.8" 1965 5. 0.4" 1902 6. 0.3" 1971 We will add 2017 to the list with the final numbers at little after midnight. #wawx
