cyclone77
Have some lower Michigan looking type narrow bands of snow showers rolling in from the west now. Probably won't amount to much, but should see some nice dendrites out of some of the showers. Will be nice to see after the pixies from earlier. Finished with 1.6" here. hawkeye_wx
1.1 inches total here. The liquid total was 0.11", so the ratio was only 10 to 1. It fell as pixie dust from beginning to end.

However, re-enforcing Arctic air will shift east into area on Christmas Day and lead to a rather nasty day. Conditions appear rather favorable for impressive Lake Effect snow squalls to shift east into area from Lake Michigan as equilibrium heights on the order of 11-12kft will allow for good convective depth and locally heavy snow rates. Trajectory with the passage of next frontal boundary suggest this activity should focus in the M-59 to I-94 region where local amounts of several inches will be possible. In addition, gusty winds of 25 to 30 mph (locally stronger in the vicinity of squalls) during the afternoon will lead to blowing and drifting of both falling snow in lake effect bands and fresh snow cover from ongoing activity late today. Temperatures will also fall into the teens and combine with the gusty winds to bring wind chill readings to around zero as the day progresses. Assuming snow squalls organize as advertised, would not be at all surprised that the need for localized headlines may arise.

ConvectiveIA
This is great. White Christmas. And the mid-range pattern looks pleasing with not just bitter cold, but repeated snow chances to boot. So often the bitter cold is dry-only. This is the stereotypical northern great plains and midwest winter traditional pattern when people think of winter

Radtechwxman
Nice white Xmas. I'm happy. Snow totals were on lower end of forecast. Prolly 3in or a little more. ILX was talking about some drier air in the DGZ. I think these hindered the ratios some and gave us pixie dust instead of fat dendrites. Hope the upcoming pattern gives more snow
