I feel like I've been toyed with all week (WNW/NW my arse). This thing is a straight W flow. Even Tim has packed it in. NWS has finally decided to decrease its snowfall. Point and click now 2-4. And that's it for days. That sounds about right for ROC - SYR - BGM - ALB. Lake effect is not a factor here for the most part this week. Still keeping my eye on NWP for end of year storm potential but that's not looking promising attm. This is a cold and kind of dry northern stream +NAO pattern for the most part. Gonna be cold this week though!
tim123
Yeah not feeling the storm system. But lake snow may be a different story

And the fact that the radar looks like crap for snow for anyone in WNY, WWA went into effect at 5pm and the snow is moving further and further away on radar lol. I call bust on the 4-7” the NWS has. I bet we see 2” or less...
tim123
Snow will develop from the south
tim123
Probally only a couple inches. But wild card is lake. For later on week I do see warning type lake snow for south shore
Syrmax
Well, watching Dallas being eliminated from playoffs in front of a roaring fire and a few beverages on Christmas Eve just about makes up for the reduced snow prospects that have developed! Buffalo Bumble
Merry Christmas everyone!! I plan to hike/ski wherever the snow’s falling south of BUF this week...looking forward to some deep snow cover somewhere. To be honest, I’m also hoping for a bright blue sunny day with fresh snowpack and cold temps this week. Those winter days are pretty great in their own right. BGM Blizzard
Haven't had much to post about from down here in BGM area. Bit of a lackluster start to the winter with just a few minor events thus far. Suffice to say BGM will not be repeating as golden snowball champion this year lol. Merry Christmas to all! I feel like we rarely verify due to our distance from the lakes and downsloping. Man Dansville gets downsloped like a mofo all the time, there is a reason why they average less than 50 inches a year lol

CNY-WXFREAK
I gotta say, this trough is wickedly negatively tilted and the H500 energy is quite vigorous. You can tell much better from the enhanced WV image as it crosses Lake Erie you can see a meso-low taking shape right under it! Pretty neat and where ever this comes ashore look for some wicked conditions for a period. CNY_WX
I just drove home from my niece's house just west of Central Square. It's snowing moderate to heavy right now. The roads including I81 are snow covered. Based on radar to the south we might be in this for a few more hours.
Buffalo Bumble
Moderate snow falling here. About a fresh 3” new on the ground. Doesn’t look to last much longer, but can’t ask for better timing, and intensity has been great for the duration. Snow pouring down on the way to and from Christmas Eve mass about as good as it gets in my book.
wolfie09
Euro didn’t look half bad especially for the Tuesday night-Wednesday night time frame, Granted kuchera has ratios about 15/1-20/1..Valid 1am Thursday (still going on a nw flow).. wolfie09
The euro has a NW flow event for 24 hrs followed by a light synoptic system and then some more lake effect under a NW regime, bitterly cold as expected.. Not a dry panel to be had on the euro..

lakeeffectkid383
Absolutely not a flake. And looks like an inch looking out the window. This one takes it for the winter for me. Literally total whiteout 1 mile away from me and stationary on radar. I must have been really bad this year to get a gift like this for Christmas. Congrats northtowns! Merry Christmas!
