It’s funny because the average daily high starts with a 3 by Christmas, but it sure feels like a 5 is the better bet.   Hopefully the cold front is real and gets through here before Christmas Day.

I wonder what the Thanksgiving day average temp compared to the subsequent Christmas day average temp is over the past 25 years.  Seems like Thanksgiving manages to be crisper/cooler than normal while Christmas tends to be damp and above normal.  Could just be perception though..

My thoughts as well.

Regular parade goer so weather is always a factor. There has been one ridiculously warm thanksgiving over last 20 years (sometime in early 2000s), one ridiculously frigid thanksgiving (also in early 2000s), one day with snow on ground (late 80s), one rain day (the year after the cat in the hat debacle), one actively snowing day (3 years ago). Not one day when balloons were grounded with new wind restrictions.

Most years feature a seasonally cold to just above normal day.

Cant say the same about xmas in that time period.

I’ve noticed that, too.

Perceptions part of it - 50 still feels cool at thanksgiving, while it’s  a torch at Christmas.

Hey, doesn't @uncle Wdo those "almanac" threads for each day of the year/winter?  Is there one for 12/25?  Searched and found one of his posts in a thread on this with all the snowfall stats, but was wondering if there was a thread on it.  Thanks...

the almanac posts have all the days...Christmas week is page nine...

Funny thing is, the weather stats look a lot better for 12/26 than they are for 12/25 lol.

Not so funny, if you can't find the threads, lol.  I tried a bunch of different searches, but came up empty other than one of uncle's posts buried in some other thread, which did have the whole 12/25 snow dataset for NYC, but I'm looking for his thread on this...

Oh, I'm just going by memory, but I'll try and help you look for it.  I'm not good with searches on here but I'll try :)

Going by memory the Thanksgiving 1989 storm was a lot better on Long Island and coastal NJ- up to 10 inches in spots.  It was so cold it started sticking immediately and was a very dry high ratio snow.

I'd take winter 1898-99 over any of the others though ;-)
