michsnowfreak Posted November 14, 2010 Share Posted November 14, 2010 Wanted to save my winter recaps from eus, so Im reposting here NOVEMBER 2009- T After a cold October, November turned mild and snow was not at all seen until a few sparse flakes flew at months end. 11-8-09, finish raking leaves as Indian Summer prevails DECEMBER 2009 - 8.0" December saw many small snowfalls, but nothing at all noteworthy, best being a 2.9" fall on Dec 27/28. Also upsetting was that a light snowcover present all of Christmas week was washed away on Christmas morn with the only rainstorm of winter. 12-20-09, sunny winter day 12-21-09, first day of winter, 1-2" on the ground 12-27-09, dusting of snow covers cabin at Greenfield Village 12-28-09, a gustblown 2.9" of snow falls over 30-hr period, though after drifting depth is more like 2". JANUARY 2010 - 9.6" January was a month that saw a huge majority of its snowfall fall between Jan 4th and 11th. The rest of the month was mainly tranquil, and the snow slowly melted the 3rd week of January to just about bare ground. 1-4-10, the first snowfall of 2010 drops 1.8" 1-7-10, snowstorm cont... Winters 3 biggest snowstorms (8.0", 7.7", 5.6") all occurred in February. 2-3-10, a surprise fluff snow of 2.4" 2-9-10, winters biggest snowstorm begins late afternoon. 2-10-10, ended up with 8.0" powder here (8.6" at DTW) 2-11-10, glitter 2-12-10, Motown Winter Blast in Detroit cont... michsnowfreak Posted November 14, 2010 Author Share Posted November 14, 2010 2-12-10 2-15-10, Mall snowbanks 2-16-10, sun peeps during snowfall (ended up with 2.0" new snow) 2-17-10, more night glitter 2-19-10, the ONLY clear day of the entire 2009-10 DJF winter! 2-22-10, snowstorm drops 7.7" of dense, heavy, wet snow..snowmen everywhere! 2-26-10, another snowstorm drops 5.6" of snow..depth a solid 12" after storms departure. cont.... APRIL 2010 - T Well, a trace of snow on April 9th seems that it may be the end of the snow season for 2009-10.
