were winters with 4" plus snowfalls in December snowy?...

the Decembers with major storms like 2010 and 1960 got a huge start and ended up with over 50" for the season...since 1950 there are 22 winters if you count the 4.7" snowfalls that we got in November 1989 and 2012 that had a 4" or greater storm before January 1st...when NYC gets a 4" or greater storm in December the chances for at least near normal seasonal snowfall is 85% off the top of my head...the three years with below average snowfall did not have another 4" storm the rest of the season...

The percentage goes up a little after this year...NYC got four more storms 4 or more inches after DEC...it ain't over yet and we are in April...
