Rap did better....ukie was best global...they all failed bad imo

Strongly agree.  The Ukie was consistent in calling for the higher precip amounts further to the west.  One of the more interesting aspects was how the GEFS was consistently to the west of the OP on this one.  In any case it has been a while since I have seen such a big bust to the high side in my area.

Warnings downgraded over Long Island. The bands over NJ are making some headway east, hopefully they pivot over soon. Pretty much down to flurries here.

During the day we only accumulated on grass, trees, car tops, etc.  Now that it's night time I see some accumulations on sidewalks and driveways and on the edges of the roads, but the majority of streets are just wet (and probably icy.)

How much did you get?  One county to your north in Carbon County, they already have 4" and are expecting 6"

Going to be very treacherous later tonight after the snow stops. The sidewalks are going to freeze over and be an ice rink, along with untreated roads.

JM, how much do you have so far?  4 inches?

It was snowing lightly here since around 9:30 and only started falling decently starting around 4 PM and fell pretty hard after that and only just started getting lighter again- so about 4 hours of decent rates.

We were at 4" and ripping snow pretty well at 4 pm and then we fell under one of those subsidence "bands" with light precip since then, with heavier bands to our SE and NW, so we're now only at 4.75" as of 6 pm.  Hoping those bands continue to fill in - would love to get to 6" for this storm.  About to head to the RU hoops game.

Finally got under some of the good bands the last hour or so.  Up to 5.5" now and hoping to make a good run at 6" with moderate snow falling.  Temps at 30F and with them dropping into the mid-20s overnight, anything not shoveled soon will freeze solid. Did a shovel earlier and will do a 2nd one after the game.

Gotta be close to 6” here in Hillsborough, NJ now. Has not stopped since 9am and still going.  Overperformer and beautiful outside.  Amazing storm given my Hometown (Marietta, GA) got 10”!

Yeah people saying this is a bust, might be forgetting that this is a historic storm for the South.  Almost unprecedented.  18 inches in parts of Georgia and North Carolina.  Accumulating snow right down to the Gulf Coast, Deep South Texas, San Padre Island and the panhandle of Florida.  This was an amazing event!  This is a storm that will be talked about and analyzed for years.  Sort of like a larger version of the Xmas Eve 2004 storm.

Hope we don't get anything like the 24 car pile up they got in San Antonio from the black ice!

Eastern LI did badly, mostly rain or mix over the twin forks.

Not sure if you're referring to what I had posted or maybe some other reports, but I'd like to clarify anyway.

It was mostly snow where I am. There just wasn't that much of anything falling at any given time.

Oh no sorry lol I was just referring to the geographical region of the twin forks.

Sorry to hear you did poorly, it didn't do much here most of the day either and only started falling decently close to sunset.

Paved surfaces still pretty much bare, grass and trees look pretty though.

Put it this way, the biggest storm I ever saw in my first 24 years of my life, before moving to NJ, was 10” in the Superstorm of  ‘93. This is the most by far in the suburbs of Atlanta since. We still got some banding here and could push 6.5-7”!!!  Great start to the season.

Don we got less here on the South Shore even though it never mixed.  It just never snowed hard during the day and the only decent rates we got were between 4 PM and 8 PM.

10 inches in the Atlanta burbs is amazing!  Got it in March 1993 and now December 2017!

Hey, out here in Fleetwood I got 8 freakin inches. NW burbs certainly exceeded expected totals!

You were probably under that crazy band that was cranking out that way for several hours earlier.  I was under a band this morning that got us off to a good start.  Are you up on that mountain just south of town?
