CNY-LES FREAK Posted December 13, 2017 Share Posted December 13, 2017 Snowing extremely heavy here in southern Oswego County Northern Onondaga around Rt 31 area with extremely cold temps, with WC's approach -10's F, WOW, I must have fell asleep, cause as the band dropped, my eyes did the same, lol! Wife just took the dog out, and it's past her knees but the compaction later will be drastic, lol! A foot will turn imto 4" real fast but just a Winter Wonderland out there right now. A closed low will drop south across Ontario Friday and an associated surface low will move across the northern Great Lakes. Winds will back further and warm air advection aloft will produce snow showers across the region. As the closed low becomes an open wave Friday night, strong lift and lake enhancement will likely produce heavy lake effect snow downwind of the lakes. There is uncertainty as to where the best placement of these lake bands will be at this time but favorable conditions exist for possible advisory/warning criteria downwind of the lakes.
